The High Tor Hotel is the newest hotel in Matlock/Matlock Bath “We are over 200yrs old!” The hotel is a grade 2 listed building and we opened in 2012. The hotel has been tasteful renovated to a high standard with 14 lovely rooms with 50% overlooking the Derwent River and the Tor. The hotel has a lounge bar and restaurant. The restaurant was named “Artist Corner” after the bend outside the hotel where famous artists 150 years ago painted landscape of the river and the Tor. The High Tor Hotel is well situated between two historical towns and only 7 mins walk apart. Both towns are can be reached along the River Derwent from outside the Hotel. The famous “High Tor” prominently overlooking the hotel and on a clear day from our Lounge bar you are able to watch rock climber’s move slowly up the face of the Tor. There are amazing views looking down into the valley from the Tor with the river Derwent stretching from Matlock to Cromford passing in front of the Hotel with Riber castle to the North. Those Guests coming by train, we are only 7 minutes from Matlock or Matlock Bath train station you are welcome drop off your luggage if your room is not ready before going off exploring.
