Guests comment not only on the beauty of the gardens, and the outlook over the Caribbean they afford, but also compliment the groundskeepers for maintaining them to a very high standard, but without creating an artificial “too perfect” environment.
Several guests comment that they were very happy with the variety of breakfast option available. While the Jamaican breakfast was popular, they liked that they could choose from a much more extensive menu, so things didn't get boring over the course of a holiday.
Most guests, perhaps, do not come to the Hibiscus for the room décor and facilities, but rather the view and atmosphere. A few guests, however, did comment that they found their rooms rather bland, with perhaps fewer amenities than they expected.
While not a very common complaint, quite a few guests mention that there are nightclubs within earshot of the hotel, and also that the hotel itself is popular with wedding parties. Both these factors contribute to a bit too much noise for some guests, especially at weekends.
While the hotel does put on a shuttle to transport guests around Ocho Rios, it is well within walking distance. Several guests still opted for the shuttle since they regarded the neighbourhood around the hotel as potentially unsafe.
