Reviews consistently suggest that the hosts go out of their way to make guests feel at home and are particularly welcoming toward children.
It seems that Hadrian Lodge is the perfect place to get away from it all. Unsurprisingly, guests who wanted to explore the area on foot or by bike were particularly impressed by the surrounding landscape. Also, Jim seems happy to run guests to the wall in his car if required.
All things considered, guests feel they have enjoyed value for money here. The overnight rates are reasonable when you take into account the standard of the rooms (basic but clean), free perks such as breakfast and Wi-Fi, not to mention the excellent hospitality on offer.
Although guests find that the bedding is clean and fresh, some do mention that the beds themselves could be a little comfier. This observation typically relates to the bunk beds provided in the family rooms.
While a good number of guests enjoyed breakfast at the Lodge, some did find it a little too basic. The included continental breakfast may be a little too meagre if you are heading out to walk for the day. Paying a little extra for the cooked version is probably a wise idea.
Although evening meals are offered here, reviews suggest that they are not always available or finish early at least. That said, guests who were unable to eat on-site were often provided with a lift to a nearby restaurant.
