Hotel Gower Guest House (St. John's, Canada)

Guests loved that the guest house was close enough to downtown St. John’s that it was only a matter of a couple of minutes walk to get there, but at the same time set in a side street that offered a great sense of peace and quiet. It seemed to offer the best of both worlds.

Quite a number of guests couldn’t stop talking about the breakfast served every morning, saying that it was freshly prepared, excellent and one if the best they had ever had while travelling

Considering Wi-Fi is something that most guests pretty much take for granted, there was a surprising number of guests who went out of their way to say that it was both very fast and reliable.

Guests mentioned that the rooms, like many in older buildings, are not very well soundproofed. While external noise did not seem to be an issue, some guests did say that they were disturbed by people passing along in the hallways.

Guests mentioned that the manager, while very pleasant, is only onsite for a limited time every day. They felt like they were really abandoned at some point, with it being difficult to contact the manager, or effect any sort of remedial action, when he was not there.

It seems that the rooms vary in size, with those allocated one of the smaller rooms complaining that they were really tiny, especially the bathroom. It generally made for an awkward environment, especially for couples.
