Specialising in large family rooms, Glenshandan Lodge offers accommodation just minutes from Dublin Airport, and within walking distance to the shopping malls and amenities of Swords. Rooms are larger than normal, so as to be able to accommodate the whole family, and feature en-suite bathrooms, flat screen TV’s, dressing tables and alarm clocks. There are a couple of cosy lounge areas for guests to relax in, perhaps with a book from the small library. The Lodge is happy to offer parking and comprehensive Wi-Fi to its guests, both free of charge. Glendshandan Lodge proudly offers guest a full Irish breakfast every morning, while other meals can be enjoyed at one of the restaurants in Swords. The hosts will be happy to offer recommendations. The town of Swords and its Pavilion Shopping Centre are just a few hundred yards away. Dublin Airport’s terminals are about 2.5 miles to the south.
Though the lodge is neither in Dublin's centre, nor very near the terminals of its airport, guests describe it as being in a position very easy to reach by public transport from either location. Guests never seemed to feel that they were stuck in a neighbourhood with no easy options to see the sights.
Many guests complimented the breakfast, and regarded it as just what they needed for an excellent start to their day. It s described as a combination of continental and fry-up, and was more than enough food.
Though not mentioned often, the motorists who did were very grateful for the free on-site parking in a fairly central spot.
A few guests complained that even in normal circumstances the walls and doors didn't do a very good job of keeping sounds from other parts of the building out of the rooms. On some occasions there were rowdy groups, and then of course even good soundproofing would not have helped.
There seemed to be some confusion about the bathroom situation. Guests say that they booked a room with a private bathroom, but when they arrived they were allocated a room where the bathroom was not simply shared with another room, which it was, but was also one flight of stairs below. Some make the accusation of misrepresentation on the part of the lodge, but the situation is not completely clear.
Several guests expressed the opinion that the hotel was in desperate need of a makeover. It was not usually that they said things weren't functioning properly, but rather that furniture was worn, and of a type and age that was neither fashionably modern nor classic.
