Situated in the leafy suburb of Ballsbridge, Glenogra Guesthouse offers cosy but sophisticated accommodation in a charming 19th century property. The rooms are elegant and furnished to a very high standard. Each features en-suite bathroom, flat screen TV, tea/coffee station and hairdryer. There is a cosy lounge for guests to relax in, and free Wi-Fi available throughout the property. Free parking is also available for motorists. A full and hearty Irish breakfast is served every morning in the grand dining room. The hosts will be happy to offer their own personal dining recommendations when it comes to other meals. Ballsbridge contains many embassies, and is known for its excellent restaurants serving varied cuisines. The RDS arena is barely 500 yards from Glenogra, and there is much more of interest in Ballsbridge. The centre of Dublin is about 2.5 miles north, where guests shouldn’t miss a chance to survey the city from Dublin Castle.
The location was perhaps guest's favourite aspect of Glenogra. Many were attending events or exhibitions at nearby RDS, and found the location just perfect since it was only a few hundred yards away. Also mentioned was that the centre of Dublin was very accessible by fast and frequent public busses.
Though it didn't seem to be included in most guests' room-rate, many did add it on and were very glad they did. The breakfast was overwhelmingly described as very well prepared, varied, and served in sufficient quantities to really set guests up for the day.
While reviews of the room décor and fittings were mixed, an overwhelming majority of guests both liked, and were impressed by, the public areas. They described them as grand and very well decorated and fitted.
Quite a number of guests expressed their opinion that the guest house was too expensive for what it offered. In their minds the prices reflected those of a luxury hotel or excusive guest house, and Glenogra did not deliver that sort of experience.
Unfortunately Glenogra has not seemed to manage to escape the curse of poor hotel Wi-Fi. Like many hotels, quite a few guests mentioned that the Wi-Fi was very unreliable, either being too slow, or sometime not available at all.
A surprising number of guests mention that they had problems with their TV's. The problem was usually that it was not tuned in properly and they could get either no channels, or only one, a state of affairs that left them frustrated, unhappy and with nothing to watch on the telly.
