The hotel is conveniently located between Windermere and Bowness, meaning you can easily walk to both places and you'll have lots of choice when it comes to eating, drinking and shopping. It is an ideal base for getting around the Lake District.
The guestrooms at the hotel are comfortable, well-appointed and with an impressive level of cleanliness.
The Wi-Fi at Glencree really needs improvement. The connectivity is pretty poor and in some places it's impossible to get online at all. Once you do manage to log in, you might find that the signal repeatedly drops out.
While the hotel is in a tranquil area, if your room faces the front of the house, you might experience a bit of noise from the road outside. Bring your earplugs if you are a light sleeper.
There is something of an incline when heading back from some of the walks. This obviously isn't the hotel's fault but is worth noting if you have walking difficulties.
