Situated on exclusive Lopud Island, just seven miles form Dubrovnic by ferry, Glavocic Hotel is the island’s oldest, and offers comfortable accommodation right on the main beach strip. The restaurant at Glavovic has both an indoor area and lovely outdoor seating on the terrace overlooking the Adriatic. It makes full use of the local seafood and produce, but also includes many meat dishes. It has a particularly extensive range of local wines available. There is a whole array of watersports available on the island, from, kayaking to diving.There’s also tennis, beach volleyball and too many other to list. Dubrovnik is just a seven mile ferry ride to the south.
The location right on Lopud Island's main beach strip is far and away guest's favourite feature of the hotel. They find that they have all the beach activities they could want right in front of the building, and that the ferry to Dubrovnik can be boarded barely 100 yards away as well.well.
Guests can't say enough good things about the owners and staff. Glavovic is a family run hotel, and guests describe the owners as fantastically hands-on, going way beyond the call of duty to make sue that's guests expectations are not only met, but exceeded.
While it seems that the restaurant had a reputation for being somewhat mediocre in years past, recent reviews are positive, and returning guests also mentioned that it seems to have got a great deal better. It's not just the food, but also the view from the gorgeous terrace that guests seem to appreciate.
While not brought up by many guests, it was mentioned that the rooms were fairly basic, and clearly hadn't been updated for a while. Some of the furniture, fixtures and fittings seemed a little worn and frayed.
Also not brought up often, but some mention that there is a monastery nearby and it rings its bells to call the brothers to prayer, and also to count out the measured hours. It may cause a bit of disturbance for guests not used to hourly bells and chimes.
Guests mention there is no lift in the building, so those with mobility issues will have a hard time. The staff are, however, quite prepared to assist with getting guests luggage to their rooms.
