Barcelona’s famous, and sometimes infamous, Las Ramblas is just a couple of minutes walk from Hotel Ginebra. There are several Gaudi houses nearby, but his famous Sagrada Familia is about 1.5 miles to the north. Thee beaches at La Barceloneta are about 1.7 miles to the south.
Ginebra's location is by far the thing guests most comment on. They claim it is the perfect location for their needs- just a short walk from Las Ramblas and its shops, tapas bars and restaurants. The nearby Catalunya Square is also a great meeting place, for Catalans and tourists alike, as well as being a transport hub.
While not all guests mention this, quite a few speak of receiving an unexpected bottle of champagne at some point during their stay. These were just regular guests, not only honeymooning couples. They felt it was a kind gesture.
Many guests were astounded by how quiet it was at night. On booking at a central hotel they had probably resigned themselves to being subject to the noise from cars and revellers bellow. In reality, though, it seems guests had a remarkably peaceful sleep.
The hotel is on the third floor of a building also containing other businesses. This type of set-up is unusual in some countries, and a few guest had trouble finding the hotel as there wasn't a big sign across the building announcing its presence.
There were no major complaints regarding the breakfast. It was just that it was rather basic. Since it was not usually included in a guest's room-rate they usually just sought out a nearby café were they could order a more substantial meal.
As is typical in smaller hotels, it seems that rooms sold in the same class can vary quite a bit in size. Some guests speak of being very happy with their spacious rooms, while others say they could barely turn around. Guests who really like their (room) space could consider trying to request a larger room.
