G4 Station is a modern backpacking hostel, conveniently located in the centre of Singapore. Accommodation is in the form of dormitories that sleep up to eight people, or private rooms. Free Wi-Fi, lockers and air conditioning apply to all accommodation. Bathroom facilities are shared with other guests. Communal facilities include a 24-hour front desk (*and movie screenings), sun terrace, games room, luggage storage and laundry. There is also a TV lounge with DVD player and video games. A free breakfast is served daily. Alternative breakfast cafes include Eat. Later eateries include The Banana Leaf, Starbucks, Leo Café and Madras Woodlands. Little India MRT is two minutes from G4 Station. Nearby shopping is at Bugis Junction Mall, Mustafa Shopping Centre (24 hours) and Orchard Road. Tekka Market is approximately half a mile away and it is twelve miles to Changi International Airport.
Cleaners are forever cleaning the rooms, dormitories and communal areas. It certainly shows. Rooms are immaculate. Wi-Fi is good too and the air con is very effective. The first floor rooms share rather scruffy bathroom facilities with the adjacent restaurant ... so, it's best to go for second or third floor rooms if possible.
They sell food, drinks and maps here and the friendly members of staff will happily advise you on best value places to visit.
The price is low here but accommodation is clean and comfortable and there is a whole range of on-site facilities, plus regular entertainment. This makes it tempting to stay in and enjoy a cheap time, rather than venturing out and spending money!
You can't escape the continuous night noise from areas around the hostel. There's nothing to be done about it and if you choose a city centre location, it is just part of the unwanted baggage. *A real pain for light sleepers though.
Breakfast is pretty basic - but it's free so it's unfair to moan! There's a fridge though where you can store your own foodstuffs. If breakfast is a daily highlight, you can always try one of the many nearby breakfast restaurants.
They are very optimistic with the numbers that can be accommodated in the dormitories. As a rule of thumb, half the maximum stated would be about right. Rooms can become very stuffy and the absence of a lift makes staying on the higher floors something of an endurance test.
