Tucked down a charming residential backstreet in a long, three-storey building, the Flexstay Inn Shinagawa is right next to the canals which feed Tokyo Bay and only a nine-minute walk from JR Shinagawa train station. Free Internet access compliments this laid-back hotel’s agreeable location. Straightforward accommodations with contemporary decor provide work desks and flat-screen TVs with Video On Demand channels. Mini-fridges, microwaves and tea/coffee-making facilities are also standard features. Amenities include a coin-operated laundry facility and luggage storage services. Irons and cookware/cutlery can be rented from reception. It is fair to say that, even by Tokyo standards, the rooms here really are pretty compact. However, it was the size of the in-room bathrooms (cubicles) which visitors were most disgruntled with - they're absolutely tiny!
Numerous guests were unimpressed by the absence of a lift in this three-storey hotel (where the reception is upstairs). The narrowness of the stairs didn't go down very well either.
