The Fairmont Ajman offers ultra-modern luxury accommodation directly on the beach in the Emirate of Ajman, just 30 minutes drive from Dubai. The rooms are stylishly modern, and all have views across the Arabian Gulf. In addition, they all feature air conditioning, tea/coffee station, alarm clock, telephone, in-room safe and a refreshment centre. The pool terrace features a massive infinity pool, with sun beds and cabanas available. For business travellers there are multiple meeting and function rooms to accommodate any size group. There are an amazing eight restaurants on-site, ranging from Spectrum Restaurant, with its spectacular cooking demonstrations, to the poolside café with its light and healthy fare. Dubai Airport is a convenient half an hour ride away. Ajman itself is not short of attractions, and could perhaps be described as “Dubai Light”, with a much less frantic pace than its larger cousin.
The hotel only opened in mid 2015, and still seems to have that new hotel smell. While there may have been teething problems initially, these seem to have been resolved. Guests nowadays love that everything is so new and fresh looking, with no scuffed or worn furniture or equipment.
While guests did love the hotel's infinity pool, they also liked to get out onto the private beach right in front of the hotel, which they describe as well organised.
Several guests chose the hotel not only for the Fairmont name, but also because they were looking for something a bit quieter than they'd be able to find in Dubai. From comments made it does not seem that they were disappointed. They describe both the hotel, and the surrounding city as a world away from the bustle of Dubai.
Considering the religious and cultural attitudes to alcohol in the region, especially in the smaller Emirates, it is perhaps surprising that alcohol is available at all. It is available, but has been described as very expensive indeed.
This Fairmont seems to have succumbed to the fashion of using frosted glass as the divider between the bathroom and the sleeping area. Clearly this fashion is not loved by all. Some mention that the light from the bathroom lights up the whole room, and also that they are a little uncomfortable with the whole set up.
While not a common complaint, some guests are not as enamoured of the newness of the hotel as others, and find that it has yet to gain a “personality”. They would prefer a bit more energy to enliven the place.
