The Fairfield is a contemporary 4-star B&B just a minute’s walk from central Bowness on Windermere and five minutes from Bowness Bay and Lake Windermere’s shores. Almost 200 years old, this highly-awarded B&B is set in a half acre of secluded garden and is near the end of the 81 mile ‘Dales Way’ trail. All rooms have en-suite bathrooms, complimentary toiletries, hair dryers, TVs, tea and coffee-making facilities and free Wi-Fi, while some have four-poster beds or spa baths. The penthouse has an open-air spa, rain shower, mood lighting and super-size king bed. Guests can relax in a large lounge with log fire, there is a terrace, dogs are accepted in some rooms and free parking is available. The Fairfield’s breakfasts come recommended by the AA and include hearty or healthy options, while other dining options are available in Bowness. Windermere village is found 1.6 miles away.

Guests loved the location of The Fairfield, which is one or two minutes walk away from the restaurants, shops and bus stops of Bowness, close to Windermere Village, well-located for taking a cruise on Le Windermere, and in general, a perfect base for enjo
The friendly hosts´create a great, warm atmosphere thanks to their lovely service, and you can even take your dogs along to enjoy the trip, too.
The B&B itself and the rooms are beautifully decorated, with each room being very clean, comfortable and some offering spa baths, while the garden, and the communal sitting area/bar were found to be very relaxing.
A few people who stayed here found the rooms to be a bit cramped, perhaps due to the wide array of furniture guests found in each.
After the hotel breakfasts or a meal downtown, the uphill return home may be just what you need to work off some Cumbrian delights, but it could be a bit hard for anyone with mobility issues.
