Though there is little to see and do within walking distance, guests note that Anchorage is not a large city and the hotel is well placed for drivers, easily accessible from the highway and within a short drive of the city's museums, parks, and other touristy spots. The hotel offers a shuttle service to the airport and downtown, both nearby. It is also a popular stopover for guests departing or returning from a cruise, as the port is not far and the hotel offers extended parking packages.

Most guests thoroughly enjoy the complimentary breakfast buffet, noting that its impressive variety of hot and cold options includes made-to-order omelets, fresh fruit, yogurt, oatmeal, bacon, and potatoes. Many guests also look forward to the daily Manager's Reception, which generously includes two alcoholic beverages per person as well as tasty snacks. The bartenders and wait staff also receive positive reviews for their friendly and attentive service.

Guests generally describe the rooms as sparkling clean, modern, and spacious. Families, couples, and groups particularly appreciate the two-room layout, which allows early birds and night owls to maintain their schedules without disturbing each other.
