Newquay's The Elliot Hotel, often misspelt as Elliot, is a 10 minute walk from the centre of the resort where the main activities include surfing and sunbathing on one of eleven beaches. Rooms are very comfortable and commendably clean. The TV has multiple channels and the place is quiet; essential for a good night’s sleep.

Freshly prepared and piping hot, breakfast and service are difficult to fault. The same applies to dinner and the regular rotation of choices.

Rooms above the bar suffer from night time noise and early morning deliveries can cause a similar problem. Main road facing rooms should be avoided by light sleepers.

Allocated time slots for meals are not easily digestible! Certainly not, when you’re enjoying a carefree holiday! The food itself isn’t great, neither is the choice. Fortunately, there are a number of alternative restaurants within an easy walk.

It doesn’t live up to its own publicity. The hotel is entrenched in the past as instanced by general décor and the smell that greets you in the foyer. Even the entertainment seems distinctly dated.
