The guest rooms at El Maragato are cleaned often and to a high standard and the rooms are quite large including the bathrooms which have luxurious showers with lots of hot water and water pressure. Guests also reported that the beds are comfortable, the Wi-Fi always works, the air conditioning always works and the views from the balconies are beautiful.
Staff members go out of their way to make guests feel like they are at their home away from home by engaging them in friendly conversations and ensuring all their needs are met. Any issues that arise are taken care of right away and staff have no problem helping guests plan their stay in the area by informing them of the best things to see and do.
This Hotel is right in the middle of all the fun and excitement of downtown San Jose and everything is easy to get to with a short walk or bus ride. Everything is in this area including restaurants, museums, parks, shops and theaters and guests reported feeling safe walking around the area.
Guests reported that any given time, there is at least one elevator not working which means the other one gets crowded. Guests also reported that one of the elevators never stops at the right floor.
The noise around El Maragato is almost non-stop and comes from several sources including loud air-conditioning units, heavy downtown traffic at all hours of the day and night and people walking and talking loudly on the sidewalk along the hotel at all hours.
Although the rooms are advertised as having air conditioning, the units don't do anything to cool the rooms which makes the environment quite hot and stuffy.
