The location is near the most popular historical attractions of Carlsbad. The hotel is also close to a major highway crossroads and gives easy access to all the attractions you'll want to see.

The name brand change has brought some needed improvements to the hotel. The breakfast is filling and adds to the value. The rooms are spacious and the price is very reasonable for an overnight stay.

The staff here is very friendly and really seem to enjoy their job. They provide excellent customer service and are courteous, attentive, and professional.

While there are nonsmoking rooms available, the smell of smoke is heavy throughout all the rooms and hotel common areas. The rooms also have a lot of cigarette burns on furniture and bedding.

While the name and brand changed improved the look of the common and outside areas, the inside rooms need to be upgraded to match. There are stains on the carpets and bedding, as well as holes, rips, and tears throughout. This makes the room feel dirty, even if freshly cleaned and the entire place smells unpleasant.

The hotel and lounge downstairs are often packed and this makes for a lot of extra noise. All the rooms open onto the exterior parking lot and the road noise from the trucks, buses, and motorcycles that frequent the hotel and lounge make for some loud nights and early mornings.
