Set in a lovely renovated 17th century farmhouse, the East Byermoor is an award winning guest house in an idyllic country setting near Newcastle upon Tyne. It is popular with business people to that city who value a country setting, and also to tourists visiting surrounding attractions. All rooms have private bathrooms, and also TV’s with freeview channels, tea/coffee facilities and bedside alarm clocks. The entire property is non-smoking, and Wi-Fi is available throughout. Breakfast is served in the garden room, which has lovely views over the Derwent Valley. Both full English and continental breakfast is available. From its idyllic country location, guests at East Byermoor can travel to Newcastle upon Tyne - 7.5 miles away, lovely Durham Cathedral - 14 miles away, or even Hadrian’s Wall, about an hours’ drive north.
Guests couldn't possibly be more complimentary of the hosts Karl and Jacqi, describing them as unfailingly friendly and knowledgeable. Many mention being surprised with tea and cakes, a bit of a mini afternoon tea, on arrival, which set the stage for the care and attention to detail that would be noticeable throughout their stay.
The guest house has won numerous awards, including for its breakfast offerings. Guests appreciated the breakfast, and understood why it would attract awards, but were even more impressed with the lovely pastoral views from the breakfast room itself.
Many guests were in fact visiting nearby Newcastle upon Tyne for various reasons, and had decided on this guest house since it was in a tranquil country location. It was an ideal choice that allowed them to easily get into Newcastle upon Tyne for their business, while still staying in tranquil surroundings.
There were very few negative comments about Byermoor Guest House indeed. One very minor point was that it is on an unlit road, and that it would be quite difficult to find it on a dark night, at least without GPS.
Another very rare comment, but a couple of guests did mention that the shower in their bathroom was a bit too small to be truly comfortable.
A couple of guests mentioned that the road immediately outside gets busy in the mornings with people travelling into Newcastle upon Tyne, and that this may cause a bit of noise.
