Gracious hosts could be found at the Royal Princess Chiangmai. Staff were ready with a smile and helpful attitude, making a great impression.

Proximity to many of Chiang Mai's most popular attractions made the hotel an attractive choice for many guests. With tuk-tuks and taxis waiting right outside the door, it's hard not to easily explore the city. Within walking distance of the Thai Farm Cooking School and Ping River, guests will find themselves with no shortage of things to do close-by.

Large windows and a well-planned room layout helped to add to a feeling of spaciousness in the already plus-sized rooms.

Some guests were left wondering which area of the hotel was designated non-smoking. While promised a non-smoking room, many had to contend with the unpleasant odor of cigarette smoke in their rooms and in the hallway. Guests traveling with small children, or who are easily irritated by smoke, might want to keep this in mind.

Being in the middle of the action can come with a price, which is what some guests found at the Royal Princess Chiangmai. Being steps from the popular night market might mean singing and general revelry can be heard well into the night. Fellow guests staying at the hotel were also sometimes less than quiet, partaking in the late-night happenings and bringing their good spirits back to the hotel.

You might be rubbing your back or wishing someone would do it for you after sleeping in a bed that necessitates the old cliché, "hard as a rock". Everyone has their individual mattress preference, but a number of guests were surprised by the firmness of the bed.
