Positive Reviews

positive:

Staff is always willing to please.

The owners of this small hotel are very kind and always do what they can to make sure guests enjoy their stay in Dublin as much as possible. In addition to being super nice, they have plenty of local information and are helpful to visitors wanting to really get out and enjoy the city.

positive:

Conveniently located for tourists.

Durban Residence is ideally located for travellers; especially younger tourists wanting to take in the nightlife. Temple Bar, famous for pubs and clubs, is just around the corner. This hotel is also well located for anyone wanting to take in Dublin on foot.

positive:

Everything is clean and tidy.

From top to bottom every corner of Durban Residence is spotless. For being listed as a budget accommodation this hotel certainly goes against expectations as everything on the property has been well maintained.

Negative Reviews

negative:

Not much for amenities.

As a budget hotel, Durban Residence is slim on amenities. The old building offers accommodations that are fairly Spartan, and don't include much to do on-site for people who want to relax in their room.

negative:

Street noise can be a bother.

While being in the heart of the Dublin action is a selling point for Durban Residence, it also means guests will have to contend with a lot of commotion well into the night. This is particularly challenging for guests with a room at the front of the hotel on the street.

negative:

Breakfast doesn't suit all tastes.

Included in each stay is access to a continental breakfast, served daily in the hotel's dining room. While some enjoy the meal, most are turned off by the unappetizing choices and slim variety of what is offered.
