The Driftwood Resort is like no other; built in the 1930's, almost entirely from driftwood, the three-star hotel is located on the oceanfront, with private boardwalk access and views to the Atlantic Ocean. Each suite has air conditioning, LCD TV, telephone and kitchen facilities with refrigerator and microwave. Pillowtop beds and sofa beds form the sleeping arrangements in each. The Driftwood Resort has two outdoor pools, complimentary Wi-Fi, a BBQ and picnic area and laundry facilities for guest use. Waldo's Restaurant offers relaxed, poolside dining, with both lunch and dinner service available. The hotel also has a comfortable lounge bar. Royal Palm Pointe Park is three-miles away, the Vero Beach Municipal Airport is a 20-minute drive from the hotel, and both the McKee Botanical Garden and the Indian River Citrus Museum are within easy reach.
One thing is for sure; there is nowhere else quite like the Driftwood Resort. Originally built as a family home in the 30's, the Art Deco-styled building has been subject to extensive refurbishment and is exceptionally well-kept. The hotel is a landmark in the area.
The hotel's bar enjoys a unique setting - partially inside, partially outside; it is the ideal spot to make the most of the views of the Atlantic. Similarly, many of the suites are oceanfront and have rocking chairs on their private balconies, where guests can relax and watch the world go by.
The hotel's location is beautiful - situated directly on the sandy Vero Beach; where guests can hire kayaks, paddleboards, loungers and umbrellas, and nearby, there are bakeries, ice cream parlours, nightlife and restaurants.
Some may find the suites a little on the compact side. Those traveling as a couple may well find them sufficient however, families may be a little cramped.
Live music is played on occasion in the pool area and some may find it excessive. Light sleepers may want to request a room away from the bar area also, as this too, can be a source of noise disturbance.
Previous guests have been highly complimentary about the outside area at the Driftwood Resort. The only downside is that, given the hotels popularity, it is worth being aware that it can get very busy during holiday periods.
