Situated in the very heart of Boulogne-sur-Mer, just five minutes from the station, Hotel de Londres offers a little slice of England on the other side of the channel. The 20 rooms are elegantly furnished, and have that bright airy feel typical of the seaside. Each features en-suite bathroom, hairdryer, TV and telephone. Reception is open limited hours and can assist with local information, while free Wi-Fi is available throughout the property. A light continental breakfast is available every morning in the elegant dining room. For the other meals, reception staff will be happy to recommend the best dining spots in Boulogne-sur-Mer. The very highly acclaimed National Sea Centre, an extensive aquarium featuring marine life from around the world, is less than a mile from Hotel de Londres, as are the city’s beaches.
It was de Londres' location right in the middle of town that most seemed to impress guests. While this did create some parking issues, these were quickly forgotten when the convenience of being within walking distance of the cafes, restaurants and attractions became apparent.
The guests had very nearly nothing but good things to say about the owners and staff. The owners were said to lead from the front by being incredibly welcoming and engaged, taking personal interest in their guest's well-being, and the rest of the staff were said to follow suit.
Essentially all the guests who brought up the topic of value for money believed they had received excellent value in return for what they considered a modest room-rate.
Quite a few motorists mentioned that they found it incredibly difficult to find parking on the nearby streets. There is no on-site parking, but guests did mention that there was a parking garage a few minutes' walk away.
The hotel is not a smoke-free one, and some guests mentioned that the hallways and public areas smelled strongly of old cigarettes. Asthmatics, and those who dislike cigarette smoke, should take note.
The hotel is both in the centre of town and right opposite its main bus station. Some guests reported being awakened at night by drunks in the station, and on the street outside.
