Something new and different, the De Barge-Boat hotel offers travellers a taste of nautical life. Many come for the ambiance alone.

Old and very well-preserved, Bruges is a city steeped in history and can easily be seen on foot. The hotel is close enough for most to be able to walk to all the main sights.

Although they can be very small, rooms are said to be very clean and well-maintained.

Canal views are charming, shore views not as much.

All who stay on the canal facing side of the boat enjoy their views. On the other side, however, the view is of a car park, which is not as picturesque.

Thin walls make for loud nights.

The boat has thin walls and noise travels far. Sleepers, especially those nearer to the entrance, sometimes find it difficult to drift off to sleep.

The hotel could do with a few minor repairs here and there. The staff are said to be mostly good, but some could benefit from a customer service training as some travellers have had bad experiences in dealing with the staff.
