The hotel is just three miles from downtown Long Beach, and many of the city's main attractions are within a few minutes' drive. Popular nearby attractions include the Latin American Museum of Art, the Long Beach Convention Center, Long Beach Museum of Art and the Aquarium of the Pacific. The hotel is also less than 30 minutes from Disneyland, Knott's Berry Farm and Downtown Los Angeles.

Guests generally felt that the hotel was nicely decorated. Guestrooms featured hardwood flooring as opposed to carpet, and the rooms had an overall comfortable, modern look, suggesting that they had been recently renovated.
