Positive Reviews

positive:

Excellent location in Eastbourne.

No matter what a traveller is looking for in Eastbourne, they will find it nearby. One of the selling points is the fact the building overlooks the promenade, with sea views from the rooms and the beach only steps away. Other activities, including shopping and theatres, are also within easy walking distance in the town centre.

positive:

Staff are nice without going overboard.

Everyone who works at this hotel really puts in an effort to make sure guests enjoy their stay. Staff members are helpful and polite without overdoing it and making guests feel smothered.

positive:

Five star dining experience.

There's a lot that guests and locals enjoy when dining at the Cumberland Hotel. In addition to well prepared food and good service, the meals are reasonably priced. The Wordsworth Restaurant is also a good spot for afternoon tea or Sunday carvery.

Negative Reviews

negative:

Hotel is in need of sprucing up.

Some areas of the Cumberland Hotel look tired. This is particularly true of carpets that are worn out and some dated decor that gives the property a 1960s feel. ot for afternoon tea or Sunday carvery. walking distance in the town centre.

negative:

Not the best place for a quiet holiday.

Creaky floors are common at this old hotel. It is also a destination that is popular with families on holiday, so guests looking for a restful stay may struggle to deal with noise from rowdy children.

negative:

Not always as advertised.

Pictures that are posted online of the Cumberland Hotel don't due the property justice, and clearly the photos were taken some time ago. This is because guests find the hotel to be more worn out looking than anticipated, which can be disappointing.
