The hotel is a good spot for visiting the village and attractions of Peebles. It is located on the main street and is within easy walking distance of many food and entertainment options. The hotel is also quite popular with walkers and hikers and is a good base for sightseeing in the larger area.
The rooms provide a good value for the money spent. There are large and comfortable and clean upon arrival. The bathrooms has a good shower and privacy. Overall, the units are comfortable.
While the onsite pub is convenient for cocktails, it is more trouble for hotel guests than it is worth. The pub is very busy and extremely noisy, especially on game nights and weekends. The smoking area is located just below the guest rooms and that noisy chatter has to be dealt with. Also, the beer garden is old and unkempt.
The rooms are not standard fare and some have kinks and quirks that can make for minor inconveniences. There are wardrobe doors with no handles and bathroom doors that won't shut. There are no hair dryers and no real storage for items.
The pub and restaurant are extremely busy sites. They are packed most evenings and you will be kept waiting. That wait might be up to an hour for a table and even longer get the food.
