Commune by the Great Wall is a private collection of living contemporary Chinese and Asian architecture designed by 12 Asian architects set in a shared landscape where modernism and tradition blend together.Ms. Zhang Xin the mastermind and investor behind the project won a special prize at the 2002 Biennale di Venezia for her bold personal initiative which emphasizes the role of 12 Asian architects in building privately-owned houses in difinitively contemporary manner. The exhibited projet model made of wood and cardboard is displayed at the Centre Pompidou in Paris as part of its first permanent collection from China.Unlike any other hotel in the world the Commune by the Great Wall offers guests an 'architectural' and cultural experience with breath-taking views of the Shuiguan Valley and a unique private access to the unrestored part of the Great Wall on site.It is the epitome of contemporary China complete with art design architecture and cultural events.
