The Courtesy Inn San Simeon is located half way between Los Angeles and San Francisco and is a convenient place to stay for vacationers exploring the California coast. There are a choice of room types available, including a king room and a double queen room. Family rooms are also available for larger groups. The tennis courts in the hotel are the only ones in the area and the indoor swimming pool has won the award of “Best Indoor Pool” in San Simeon. There is no onsite restaurant at the Courtesy Inn San Simeon but staff are happy to recommend local eateries for guests, some of which are within walking distance. A visit to California would not be complete without tasting some of the region’s beautiful wines and there are various award winning wineries within easy travelling distance.
The hotel enjoys a perfect location just minutes from the beach on California's beautiful Big Sur coastline and Piedras Blancas State Marine Reserve where you can see the elephant seals is around fifteen minutes' drive away. Historical Hearst Castle is also just a short drive away.
Rooms offer a microwave and a fridge and there is a small convenience store nearby should you wish to make use of these room facilities. Free Wi-Fi is also available throughout the hotel and the hotel's indoor pool is excellent, especially for children.
There is a restaurant next door which offers breakfast and dinner at a reduced rate for guests of the hotel if you have a voucher. There are also many other restaurants nearby.
According to some guests the hotel is starting to look rather tired and old and is in dire need of a modernisation and a good clean. There have been reports of dirty carpets and stained, ripped bed linen along with uncomfortable beds and old, stained chairs.
Members of staff are not always the most helpful and don't take it upon themselves to try and resolve any issues. Some previous guests had problems with reservations and complaints about rooms, but the inexperienced staff were unable to deal with these effectively and to guests' satisfaction.
Although the Wi-Fi offered by the hotel is complimentary there have been many reports from previous guests that it hardly works and it is impossible to get a signal. Some have had to resort to using the signal from other hotels nearby.
