Church View is a guesthouse and holiday cottages set in a historic farmhouse in the picturesque village of Stockton on the Forest. If you are looking for a relaxing weekend in an English village, then this is the place for you. The local village is beautiful, and the locals are extremely friendly. There is a great atmosphere at the local village pub which also serves great food.
The owners are some of the nicest people you will meet and have a lot of time for their guests. If you need some friendly advice on local day trips or if you just fancy a chat, they’re always around to help out.
The policy of paying on arrival isn’t such a big deal but for some it might seem a little off-putting. It sort of shows a lack of trust but in fairness it also means that you can slip away on the morning of departure without having to check out.
The English weather isn’t the most welcoming so you’d expect the rooms and cottages to be warm against the chill of the night. Unfortunately though this is not the case, and even with the heating on for a while, you may still feel that chill.
The owners need to invest in some better walls between rooms as unfortunately they are far too thin. You can hear everything that is going on in each room, and if you’re a light sleeper, you should hope you don’t have noisy neighbours.
