About Charleston Lodge

Ideally located for a night or two on your way from Nelson, Abel Tasman National Park or Picton to the Glaciers. Charleston Lodge is only 28 kms to the famous Pancake Rocks (Punakaiki) & we too have stunning coastal views & beaches but without the crowds. As a small lodge we have the time to meet our guests & in summer we often enjoy a barbecue in the garden with them or everyone is able to make their own meals & we have a guest kitchen as well. We are also lucky to be able to walk down to the beach have excellent views of the mountains. Charleston is an ideal base to explore the northern part of the West Coast & our webpage will introduce you to some of the activities here & in the region. There is plenty for families, older people & the adventurous of all ages. Many people enjoy exploring the historical aspects of this former gold-mining settlement or going into the rainforest or touring the limestone caves. Please note that petrol is only available in Westport or Greymouth & the nearest supermarket is in Westport where there is a range of shops, cinema, museum, etc. WiFi is free but is not fast & at times be rather poor, cellphone coverage on the Coast can also be unreliable in some parts
