Guests loved being able to stay in unique bungalows that felt rustic and unique that resulted in mostly positive comments. The well-maintained buildings are located in the middle of the rainforest.

Guests raved about the bamboo and woodwork decorations in the room. The rooms have a unique décor that adds to the romantic look, reviewers said. Depending on which suite, some guests had a porch and a kitchenette balcony that is surrounded by the jungle.

Guests delighted in how the Chalet Kilauea Collection maintains a garden inside the rainforest complete with a koi pond, hot tub and gazebo. It added to the ambiance of having a mountain retreat, some visitors said.

The hotel has different places you can stay, either the bungalows, which are private units or the chalet house, in which the bedrooms are rented. Some visitors who stayed in the chalet house said the walls were paper-thin and they could hear more from their neighbors than they wanted. They did not like having to share bathrooms.

Some guests said they got really cold during the night in the bungalows. The warning about temperatures is posted in the website. Guests noted that the guesthouse provides space heaters.

The hotel uses a rain-catching system that can run low on supply. This means that the water may shut off at times - even in the middle of showers. Some guests also noted that it took awhile for the water to warm up and others noted that the water pressure was weak.
