Hotel Butler House (Kilkenny, Ireland)

Rooms in this delightful home have an old-world charm to them. They are spacious and comfortable with a modern bathroom. They are tastefully decorated and well-equipped, and guests say rooms have everything you need. Since the home backs up to Kilkenny Castle, some rooms offer beautiful views of the castle and its gardens.

Guests say the staff are extremely knowledgeable about the local area and are able to offer wonderful recommendations for restaurants as well as places to visit. Staff are welcoming, and guests appreciate that staff will escort you to your room and help with your luggage.

To get to the Design Centre, where breakfast is served each day, guests are treated to a lovely stroll through beautiful gardens. There is an excellent array of homemade food, including a full Irish breakfast.

Guests say to be prepared for a good amount of noise if you are in a front-facing room. There is quite a bit of traffic noise, as well as a very active pub across the street. Noise within the hotel in general also travels, as you can hear footsteps above you and doors opening and closing.

This hotel has quite a few stairs to navigate over three separate floors, and there is no lift onsite, so it may be a problem to navigate your way around, especially if someone in your party has mobility issues.

Rooms do not have air conditioning. This can make it very hard to get a good night's rest, especially during hot spells. If you are in a room that faces the road with traffic noise, you won't want to open your window for the air flow.
