Burford’s High street is only five minutes from Hotel Burford Lodge; a country house hotel set in the Cotswolds countryside. Rooms at Burford Lodge are attractively decorated and furnished.  They are en-suite and include free Wi-Fi and beverage making facilities. Built in 1814 as a country house residence; the building then became the High View Hotel.  Retaining many period charms, the sophisticated needs of today’s guests were subsequently incorporated.  These requirements include; free parking, licensed bar and luggage storage. A choice of breakfast is served in the dining room.  Later dining requirements are catered for in Burford itself; with The Bull, Golden Pheasant and Spice Lounge forming part of an impressive list of options. This area is rich in golf courses.  In addition and just twenty miles west of Oxford, the guest house is quickly commutable from London.  The favoured haunts of Cheltenham and Stratford-upon-Avon are  easily accessed by car.

Just a few minutes’ drive away and in the town, there is parking turmoil and no spaces to be had. Here, though, life is at a more leisurely pace and onsite parking is freely available.

Taking the heat out of the situation.

There’s a severe lack of heating in the rooms and in the dining room. No, a small fan heater is not the solution!

Hello Where has everyone gone?.

In the evening, there are no welcoming lights on and no staff to be seen. The place is in darkness. Doors are left open and security must be a real issue.

There’s so ‘much room’ for breakfast improvement.

This region is the market garden of England. Vegetables and fruit abound. Why, then, in a freezing cold dining room, are guests served tinned mushrooms? Apart from the obvious, they’ve got to be more expensive, anyway!
