If you're looking for a quiet country retreat then Brown Trout Golf and Country Inn is the perfect place. Whether you choose to stay in the main house or book a private cottage, the grounds are quite lovely and perfect for taking long walks or playing golf.
This family-run Inn boasts exemplary service from the moment they welcome you in. The staff is happy to help you with most any need that arises and they are knowledgeable about the area and its history as well as restaurants and sight-seeing.
It's great that pets are welcome here as it's so much fun to travel with your favourite canine companion and there are so many glorious walks to be had right outside your door. The cottages are especially suited to pets as they are nice and roomy and have private entrances.
Some of the guest rooms have shared bathrooms which can be problematic for those who like their privacy. If you prefer a room with en suite facilities, be sure to mention this when booking or upgrade to a cottage.
It's been awhile since the interior of this hotel had an update and it shows. Dated furnishings, threadbare carpeting and walls that could use a fresh coat of paint are among the worst offenders.
Sometimes the food at Brown Trout Golf and Country Inn is wonderful but sometimes it is just so-so. Often, the meals aren't hot enough and while the flavours of some dishes are good others are just not up-to-par.
