Centrally situated in Benalmadena, Jardines de Gamonal is a holiday complex offering simple self catering accommodation to guests looking for a budget option. Apartments range in size from studio’s to two bedroom’s, and are simply furnished with solid wood pieces. Each features en suite bathroom, separate sitting/dining area, fully equipped kitchen, TV and private balcony. There is a wonderful pool terrace with all the usual sun beds, as well as shaded areas to escape the midday sun. Free Wi-Fi is available around reception, while there is also ample free on-site parking. Smaller pets are allowed subject to approval. Those not self catering will find many cafes and restaurants in the surrounding area. Apartamento Jardines Del Gamonal Bloque I is in the city centre, and there are many amenities nearby. The station is 700 yards away, while perhaps the main attraction, the city’s beaches, are 900 yards from the hotel. Families will enjoy Sea Life Benalmadena Aquarium, about a mile away.
Several guests were surprised by just how well equipped the kitchens were. They were perhaps used to “fully-equipped” kitchens in rental apartments being anything but. In this case they were happy to report these were no serious omissions, and they could prepare virtually any meal they wished.
While the hotel isn't right on the beach, or in the very centre of town, this did not seem to bother many guests. Most were perfectly happy that they were a short enough walk away, so they had both great dining and leisure options close by.
While guests did have some issues with the apartments, on reflection they conceded that they paid a fairly low price, and received a decent clean apartment close enough to the beaches and other amenities they needed. They concluded they received very good value for money.
While some actually liked that there was no Wi-Fi in the rooms, since it forced their kids to be a bit more engaged with the real world, most didn't like the inconvenience of not being connected. Those with an urgent need for connectivity should probably activate data roaming.
Several guests pointed out that there was no air conditioning in the apartments. While this wasn't a big issue in the cooler months, many did feel uncomfortably hot in summer, and would have liked the option, even if there was an extra charge, of in-room air conditioning.
While most guests were out and about most of the day, they did still want to relax in front of the TV every now and then. So they were a bit disappointed to find only Spanish stations on the TV.
