Hotel Amsterdam Hostel Orfeo (Amsterdam, Netherlands)

Orfeo was found to have a great location in the centre of Amsterdam, minutes from Leidseplein nightlife, with the Vondelpark and Rijksmuseum also within walking distance and shops, bars, restaurants and public transport found in the surrounding streets.

Guess considered the staff to be excellent, offering friendly and helpful service, and said there was an international mix of young travellers but it was not a party hostel.

The kitchen facilities were appreciated by a few since it allowed them to skip the expensive Dutch food prices, however the breakfast, although free, was disappointing for some since it consisted solely of toast, spreads, tea and coffee.

Some of those who stayed at Orfeo found the communal bathroom facilities to be small, a little crowded due to how many people had to use them, and to be rather unclean and in bad condition due to other guests. A few people said the rooms and linen did not prove to be the cleanest, either.

The price of the hostel accommodation, compared to what you get, was bad value according to many guests, who said it was overpriced and especially in peak times. On the other hand, a small number of people thought the price was good for decent, basic accommodation.

Some guests reported the Wi-Fi to be weak, only working properly at ground floor and being particularly bad on the top floor, which you have to reach by following a winding staircase.
