The Altamira Hotel is located in the quaint village of Orsognia, between the mountains and the sea, in the beautiful Abruzzo region. The hotel has been family-owned for twenty-five years and features beautiful landscapes only a few miles from the Majella National Park (Parco Nazionale della Majella) and Costa dei Trabocchi. It is also a short drive from the ski resort of Mammarosa and Passolanciano and the Adriatic beaches of Francavilla al Mare, Ortona, Pescara, San Vito Chietino and Fossacesia, which, in recent years, have earned the label of “Blue Flags” (Bandiera Blu), recognizing their high standards regarding eco-friendliness, services and safety. Also within easy reach are the mountain resort of Guardiagrele, Roccaraso, Pretoro e Lama dei Peligni billow of caves (grotte del Cavallone) and famous places of historical and religious interest such as Lanciano, where one can admire the “Eucharistic Miracle” (Miracolo Eucaristico) and L’Aquila with its “Holy Door” (Porta Santa).
