Hotel Allegro (Cologne, Germany)

A number of guests stayed at Allegro Köln because of its proximity to the yearly Christmas markets. If you buy more than you expected, at least it's an easy walk back to the hotel.

Guests were smacking their lips at the extensive breakfast selection that covered all the bases, and some. Not only was it offered at an affordable rate, but menu items included a delicious array of hot and cold choices, and even some unusual fare like caviar.

Guests liked the Bavarian-style rooms, and welcomed a different ambience than a typical chain hotel. A few guests noticed that every room had its own special details, with no two rooms alike.

Allegro Köln doesn't have air-conditioning, and some guests found it necessary to open their windows. Unfortunately, rooms facing the street could be a bit noisy when this happened, so it was a choice between being too hot, or being able to sleep. On the plus side, street view rooms also have a view of the river, but some guests said that they would have rather faced the parking lot for a quieter night.

Some guests felt that the no-frills rooms at this hotel were lacking certain amenities. Not only were rooms decorated sparsely, they were also lacking a few key items such as an iron and tea/coffee making facilities. Guests felt that they would have been more comfortable with just a few minor changes.

Guests thought that slanted ceilings could have been a real problem for taller guests, or for those that came back after a few too many drinks. While most guests enjoyed this quirky feature, others weren't so sure about this potential head bump hazard.
