Hotel Alila Ubud (Ubud, Indonesia)

Guests were enthralled with the dramatic rainforest setting of Alila Ubud. Being in the middle of nature was the perfect tonic for busy lives, and guests were instantly able to unwind and soak up the lush jungle bliss. From the serene infinity pool perched atop a valley, to the dirt roads leading to out of the way villages, guests welcomed the opportunity to pause and reflect. But guests could break the peaceful spell any time they wanted, with yoga by the pool, trips into Ubud, or a visit to the onsite sculpture garden and art gallery.

Guests were treated to friendly Balinese hospitality, with staff that were a cut above the rest. Highlights for guests included being greeted by name, and being asked about their visit. From the first impression, guests could tell that they were in for a special experience.

Being pampered was taken to a whole new level at Spa Alila. Specialising in eco-friendly products, the spa also had large spaces to accommodate a couples massage. Guests wholeheartedly recommended a visit to the spa for maximum relaxation.

You might find yourself blushing with open-air bathrooms that weren't as private as some guests would have liked. The same was true for indoor bathrooms that did little to conceal noises from travel companions.

Because the hotel is ten minutes from Ubud, many guests felt that it was necessary to eat at the hotel restaurant. While the majority were happy with the food, they weren't always as happy with the final bill. Several guests described the restaurant as expensive. For a cheaper option, stick to the lounge, which had great food reviews for half the price.

Lots of stairs and hills to climb meant that some guests found Alila Ubud to be a poor choice for the elderly or disabled.
