It’s a fantastic setting and they’ve really gone to town with the gardens to maximise on the natural habitat. Another plus is that all this is close to busy resort streets and all the shops and fine restaurants that you could possibly want.
Beds are super comfortable and relaxing. Villa dwellers must be the envy of room bookers as they are surrounded by those beautiful gardens and have a private pool.
The restaurant is great although it might go against the (coffee) grain to have to go and get your own at breakfast. Later meals are also impressively delicious and it’s only a short walk to neighbouring restaurants if you want a change. Members of staff, throughout, are very friendly.
The reality is that the humidity is uncomfortable in the extreme, the rice fields are a breeding ground for mosquitoes, spiders abound ... and rooms are prone to maintenance issues. In the latter instance there is a reluctance to offer alternative accommodation. Broadly speaking, it’s a shame that whoever cares for the truly immaculate gardens doesn’t have some input in the areas of room cleanliness and maintenance.
It seems that every problem is happening for the first time so there is no known solution. Mosquito bites can ruin a holiday and there are millions here. Front desk staff though offer no helpful solution. They also have difficulty in arranging excursions and even the airport shuttle. Everything is a problem! You can’t help wondering if life might be better at one of the other similar hotels.
Can’t do much about the lizard noise but there’s a sound-proofing problem too. This seems to be common in rooms that are inter-connecting.
