Plenty of reviewers were glad to have chosen Aabba Guest House as it offered well-maintained and comfortable accommodation. The rooms reportedly weren't the height of luxury but guests often said they were cleaned to a high standard, cosy, tidy and well-equipped with flat-screen TVs, wash basins and hot drinks provisions.

The tasty cooked breakfast was freshly-prepared and filling, according to many diners. Guests also appreciated the way there were lighter continental options for those with smaller appetites. The customer service at this family-run guest house attracted frequent praise for its personal touch. Guests said they were made to feel at home by friendly and welcoming hosts.

The location on a peaceful residential street between the town centre and beach was perfect for most visitors. Guests liked the way they were just a two-minute walk from the coast and a few steps further from the beach. Moreover, the town centre and various dining options were located within five minutes' walk. Non-motorists loved being a short stroll from Whitley Bay metro station for train services to Newcastle, Sunderland and the airport.

There were some free on-street spaces nearby, but these were available on a first come first served basis. However, during peak periods spaces nearby weren't always available. It meant some drivers were left frustrated when they had to hunt for alternative spaces in town.

Critics sometimes claimed they found some of the rooms fairly small. Others were disappointed that not all the rooms enjoyed en suite bathroom facilities.

At times, light sleepers blamed thin walls for enabling them to occasionally hear noises from adjacent rooms. There were also several reports that the premises sometimes had noisy plumbing.
