Hotel A for Athens (Athens, Greece)

The views of the Acropolis from the roof terrace and from some rooms are a memorable feature of a stay in this hotel.

This is a brilliant location. it's  A1 for access from the airport and a similar rating for city centre attractions and shops, many of which are within walking distance.

With the notable exception of some breakfast staff, everyone is extremely pleasant and helpful. The welcome on arrival, from the front desk, couldn’t be better. Really good. Even the cleaning staff are really pleasant.

The view at breakfast, on the terrace and overlooking the Acropolis, is simply stunning. Breakfast too, is quite impressive. Sadly, there is little to rave about, thereafter, due to the truculent attitude of some breakfast staff. A high view and a nice breakfast - but a generally low opinion of staff attitude. The lift, incidentally, is tiny + a bit of a worry!

It’s ‘sort of clean’ but even this doesn’t extend to the bathroom and hairy evidence of guests just departed. Generally, though, they border on being OK and fresh towels are supplied daily.

At the end of the day, this is a city centre hotel and – at the end of most days – particularly at weekends, that’s when the fun starts. The rooftop bar isn’t just popular with visitors; the ‘locals’ love it as well! Great if you’re in party mood. Disastrous if you want a good night’s sleep. It seems that the bar is the only ‘common’ area. You’re really quite stuck if you are with kids and just want to relax in the company of others.
