We are currently taking reservations for July and August 2022. Before each reservation, at least 1 night is blocked out to allow for a thorough cleaning related to Covid-19. We have both been fully vaccinated including the booster, there is no-contact check-in and check-out, and we will continue to follow CDC guidelines when around our guests (i.e., keep socially distant and wear masks when appropriate). Built in 2018, this is a unique and outstanding vacation rental located about 7 miles southwest of Fishtail, MT at the base of the Beartooth Mountains on the West Rosebud River. The rental unit is a private suite with its own access on the lower level of a large, beautiful, custom home. The house is located on a ridge just above the river with magnificent views on all sides. The property consists of 16 acres with a quarter mile of easily accessible, winding riverfront with several walking trails.The private suite has two bedrooms, each with a queen bed, a living room, full bath, large equipped kitchen, laundry room, a beautiful covered patio with furniture, an outdoor grill and propane fire pit. You can simply relax on the property and enjoy the amazing views, listen to the sound of the river, feel its presence, take a walk into the aspen and cottonwood groves, explore the small island, get your toes wet, or try your luck at fishing. You can also take advantage of the many nearby activities including exceptional hiking, fishing, floating, biking, birding, hunting, off road riding, and horseback riding.This part of Montana is a hidden treasure and incredibly beautiful. The Absaroka-Beartooth Mountains are the highest mountains in Montana maxing out at 12,807 ft on Granite Peak just over the horizon. Although the West Rosebud River is literally in your backyard, there are several nearby rivers to explore including the Stillwater, the East Rosebud and the Yellowstone for your fishing or floating pleasure.The property is on the northeast edge of the Greater Yellowstone Ecosystem. Yellowstone National Park is about 50 miles to the southwest as the crow flies, or about 100 miles by car to the northeast entrance across the Beartooth Highway (a National Scenic Byway - All American Road). Deer, elk, turkey, birds of prey and an occasional bear, moose, wolf or mountain lion may be seen in the local area.There are many trailheads nearby for outstanding day hikes (shown with mileage from River Ridge to the trailhead) such as Mystic Lake (14 mi), East Rosebud (22 mi), Stillwater RiverSioux CharlieWoodbine Falls (23 mi), and many other trails near Red Lodge (29 mi).Some other points of interest relatively close for shopping, dining or entertainment include the Fishtail General Store (7 mi), the Cowboy Bar (7 mi), the Grizzly Bar (9 mi), the Wild Flower Kitchen (11 mi), Tippet Rise Art Center (12 mi), city of Absarokee (12 mi), Carter’s Camp Bar (23 mi), city of Columbus (28 mi), city of Red Lodge (29 mi), Beartooth Saloon and the Pig Races (36 mi), and city of Billings (70 mi).This place is very special to us and we would love to share it with you. The foundation was poured in 2021 and we hope to finish it this spring, but it may take longer. The building location is on the river near the far trees about 600 feet down the hill from the rental unit. It’s a small structure and it shouldn’t take long to build but we want to give you a heads up that there may be some construction activity on the property while you are here. You will still have full access to all the walking trails and riverfront, but you may or may not hear and see some minor construction down the hill. If it occurs, it shouldn’t be too bothersome.
