If you're okay with the basics as long as you're on the beach, this place could work well for you. It's an easy stroll to the ocean and Boardwalk, and there's a lovely rooftop deck for lounging while overlooking the sea. Plenty of free parking as well.

The rooms are average, with beach-facing units being the most popular - especially those on the top floor. The views from many rooms are amazing and there are refrigerators and microwaves, hot showers and adequate features in most. Stay in the winter for additional off-season value - they provide space heaters for colder nights.

Most of the staff is helpful at all times, carrying bags for you, allowing early check-ins when possible and trying to find rooms for folks when overbooked. They may not have the sophistication of higher end hotel staff, but they make up for it with enthusiasm and charm!

It's time for a refurb here as you'll notice upon arrival - and after entering. The exterior paint is badly worn from the constant abuse of salty ocean wind, and the interior needs everything from basic amenities (some rooms are without telephones, ice buckets, chairs, etc) to new sheets and furniture.

Mixed reviews on the cleanliness; some might find their rooms pristine while others check out immediately due to the conditions. Some have noted the smell of mold or mildew throughout, bugs like ants and centipedes invading, dirty showers and sandy floors before they even went to the beach. Bring a broom - and maybe some bleach.

The walls are thin, so you can probably hear your neighbors' talking next door. Some rooms seem smaller than expected, have low water pressure and lack closet space.
