Altstadt Hotel Magic Luzern (Lucerne, Switzerland)

When you picture quaint Alpine villages, you see the village of Lucerne. The hotel is right in the middle of the historic area, but also near a lovely lake, and it is very easy to imagine being in a different time and age.

By European standards each room at the Hotel Magic is massive, and decorated differently from the others. Themed rooms such as the Lion room, Pirate room, and Aladdin room are favorites.

Being close to everything in Lucerne is a big plus as the historic area is limited to pedestrians only. Unlike other hotels in the area, this hotel has maintained much of its exterior architectural authenticity and is genuinely beautiful.

Check in is on another street at another hotel, and this is where you also eat breakfast. This is very inconvenient if you have a lot of luggage.

The hotel is older and hasn't quite made the shift to modern conveniences such as air conditioning. The Wi-Fi is weak to non-existent, and church bells chine all through the night, every quarter hour and hour.

In this part of Lucerne it is hard to find parking, and it is expensive when you do. There is no staff on duty at this hotel, because they are actually an annex of the hotel Krone, where you check in. So you will carry your luggage to your room, yourself once you get there.
