Albany Airport Hotel (Latham, USA)

The front desk is a bit difficult to find but, once you’ve climbed that hurdle, staff members are pleasant and accommodating. Indeed, all the staff here seems to be the same. Quite a refreshing surprise.

Rooms are of an impressive size so there’s space to unwind and relax. It is, though, an old building and some guests say that their rooms are small and cramped. Specify a preference when booking.

The main ‘plus’ is the location near the airport. There are a number of shops and restaurants nearby and even the ones you have to travel to are only a few minutes away.

The smell of smoke in the corridors is very strong! It seems a bit pointless to advertise non-smoking rooms when the constant smell of smoke elsewhere pervades all areas. The more cynical guest might hint that the nicotine has even spread to the water supply!

The fitness center is closed and members of staff report that this has been the case for some time. One excuse for this and other shortcomings is that the hotel is going to be revitalized. That’s OK, but, in the meantime, why do they promote facilities which don’t exist!

The air conditioning/heater in the room has long since given up the ghost – and shows no sign of life. This, plus the fact that the toilet doesn’t flush, leads to a permanent and unpleasant room smell. Members of staff don’t seem to do much at night. Phone them to complain about the excessive and disruptive noise from other rooms … and there’s no reply!
