Highlights of Hallauer House: Greek Revival house built in 1830 with evidence that the house served as a stop on the Underground Railroad helping slaves escape to freedom. After three additions the property has come into the present day with the addition of a great room, Asian Spa bath, Rec/Fitness center, hot tub, in ground pool, and an extensive garden called the Garden of Misfit Junk. There is also a back pavilion where guests can relax by the waterfall stream and pond and have a small camp fire. Next to the pool there is a mini beach with andiron-dike chairs and a chimenea fire place. The pool deck is set up with 2 tables with chairs and in the summer, weather permitting, breakfast is served here. Room features: You can choose 2 room types depending on bed choice and number of guests in your party. The two standard rooms will sleep 3 with each room having a pull out love seat sofa for an extra person. The Suite is two connecting rooms with two queen beds, a full bed, and a love seat pull out sofa. It will accommodate up to 7 guests. It also has a Jacuzzi tub and 2 flat screen TVs, one in each room. All guest rooms feature an in room refrigerator, AC, WIFI, TV's, private bathrooms, electric fireplace, hair dryer, iron and ironing board, and robes. B & B features: outdoor hot tub, in ground heated 20X40 ft. swimming pool, extensive gardens, running stream, large pond, free on site parking, dry heat sauna in the Asian Spa, pool table, ping pong table, exercise equipment, vintage record player and vinyl records, Music Room with baby grand digital piano and player organ wood burning fireplace and wood burning stove. Eats and drinks: We serve a full three course breakfast on site that includes a substantial fruit cup, a variety of sweet breakfast breads, an alternating sweet or savory entree, a breakfast meat, fresh coffee and teas, and juice. Special diets are accommodated with advance notice. Oberlin city is just a six minute drive where you will find 14 restaurants, theater, music, shopping, and many other venues throughout the county. Attractions: Oberlin College and Conservatory, the Oberlin Heritage Center are right in town, as is the Allen Art Museum, one of the best small college art museums in the country. Shop in a quaint down town with unique shops, antique shops, and parks. Within a 30 minute drive there is golfing, zip lining, wineries, and Lake Erie for boating and fishing. Cleveland is 45 minutes to the east, Cedar Point amusement park and the Lake Erie Island ferry are 45 minutes to the west. A one hour drive drive south will take you into Amish country.
